In this post, I will be reviewing Dr. Althea's Resveratrol 34NA Intensive Repair Cream. This product was kindly gifted to me by the brand itself. Dr. Althea is a cruelty-free Korean skincare brand that "provide the most effective skincare products", according to their website. I did some research on their products and the company before deciding to agree to review their product. Before we get started, let's discuss my skin type first for some context.

My Skin Type and Skin History

I have combination skin. It tends to be on the drier side, especially when I am not wearing foundation/bb cream, so I always have to moisturize it. Luckily, I don't have acne problems anymore (although, I do get a mild pimple once or twice a month). My breakouts lessened as I got older but they have left their marks on my face. I have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, some acne scars, and visible pores on my cheeks. I have some whiteheads but surprisingly not much blackheads. My skin actually doesn't look as bad as it sounds but I definitely need step up my skincare game.

Now that we've discussed the current condition of my skin, let's move on to the product overview and my review.

Product Overview

Product Claim: "Plant-derived natural ingredient Resveratrol is highly effective in strengthening the skin's natural vitality and makes the damaged skin healthier. It helps improve elasticity and condition of the skin with rich nutrients."

Packaging: The packaging of this product is simple and minimalistic. I really like how it lists the key ingredients on the front side of the product.

Trial Period: 1 week. This repair cream was okay to use for daytime and nighttime but I only used it at night. This cream might not mix well with foundation due to its texture (I haven't tried layering it though).

Texture & Scent: This product is described as an “ointment cream” and it feels exactly like it. It feels like an ointment at first (but less sticky) and it kind of turns into a creamy gel texture as you apply it onto your skin. This texture is a bit difficult to describe because it is unique. It gets absorbed easily by the skin and it doesn't leave a wet feeling. As for the scent, it smells a little herbal with a hint of lemongrass and lavender. The scent is just as difficult to describe as the texture. But not to worry - the scent isn't strong and it pretty much goes away after you apply it. If anything, the scent actually smells therapeutic.

Ingredients That I Liked: Resveratrol, Ceramide Np, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract

First off, I'd like to disclose that I am in no way a skincare expert/professional. My knowledge of skincare is based on skincare YouTube videos, reading product reviews, online skincare forums, and my own research only. Resveratrol is the star ingredient in this intensive repair cream. As what you saw in the product claim, this ingredient "is highly effective in strengthening the skin's natural vitality and makes the damaged skin healthier". I was glad to see that it also contains Niacinamide (but I don't know the amount they put in), which is known for treating acne, reducing the size of enlarged pores, improving skin texture, etc. Niacinamide is raved about in the skincare community because of its many skin benefits and effectiveness but I have yet to try a much more concentrated Niacinamide product. This product also contains Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, which is a humectant and is supposed to be very moisturizing.

Product Review

I did a skin patch test prior to using this product. It didn't irritate my skin and I didn't have a bad reaction to it so I went ahead and used it. During the first few days, I experienced some mild purging, although it wasn't too bad. The purging I experienced consisted of just a few tiny white heads and tiny red bumps. They were not too noticeable because they were very small and they weren't that many. They cleared up as I continued using this product. I did not use this with anything else but a moisturizer after cleansing my face. If I had to go out, I always made sure to use sunscreen even if I didn't apply the cream in the morning (I only applied it at nighttime).

This product is moisturizing, but for someone like me who has really dry skin at night, I still needed to use a small amount of my moisturizer on the parts of my face that would get extremely dry. If you don't have dry skin, the moisturizing properties of this product would probably be enough for you. However, if you have combination or dry skin like I do, you might have to supplement this repair cream with a moisturizer.

As for the results, I can't really say that it worked miraculously because I've only tried it for a week, but what I can say is that I had a pretty positive experience with this cream. My skin feels really nice in the morning. It feels healthy, smooth and well moisturized. It is neither oily or dry. It ever so slightly faded a few of my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation spots. So far, it has done nothing to my huge pores (it didn't claim that it would decrease the size of pores, it's just my own wishful thinking!). Overall, the texture and condition of my skin feels way better than before so I have no complaints.

Will I continue to use Resveratrol 345NA Intensive Repair Cream?

The answer is... yes! I actually really liked this product. I also like the ingredients in it and the philosophy of the brand. With that said, this product gets a...
