[Review] Abib Heartleaf Essence Calming Pump

I'm back for another review! This time I'll be reviewing the Heartleaf Essence Calming Pump by Korean skincare brand, Abib. This product is sponsored by YesStyle. My reviews are based on my own opinion and personal experience. Please keep in mind that I (the reviewer) have combo-dry, sensitive skin. Let's get started!

Product Overview

The star ingredient in this essence is Houttuynia Cordata Extract. It is known for having anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, which makes this essence perfect for soothing irritated skin. Apparently, this essence can also remove dead skin cells, control sebum, and brighten up the skin. I haven't tried this essence for long term use so I cannot talk about its long term results just yet. With all its benefits, seems like I should probably start using it daily!

My Review

What I'll be focusing on in this review is if it successfully soothed my irritated skin. My skin (usually my cheeks) would get red and feel irritated once in a while, so I waited for the right moment to test the efficacy of this product. I was able to test it out a week ago when my skin (my cheek area specifically) was irritated and red for three consecutive days. Initially, I was scared that this product would sting when I apply it directly on my red, irritated skin but it was very gentle and soothing. It actually felt really good on my irritated skin. It took about 5+ minutes for my skin to completely calm down and for the redness to go away. Since it's currently winter where I live, the essence felt a little bit cold on my skin, which made it feel even more soothing and refreshing. I recommend putting this in the fridge to enhance its soothing effect if you live somewhere warm or during the warmer seasons. Moreover, this essence is fairly moisturizing/hydrating. It doesn't dry out my combo-dry skin at all and moderately moisturized my skin. I believe it doesn't say that this product is moisturizing in the product description but it actually kind of is and it has moisturizing/hydrating ingredients in the ingredient list as well.

Update: I've actually been using this pretty often nowadays because my skin has been feeling irritated lately and I don't really know why. This essence has been calming down the irritation and redness on my cheeks for numerous nights now.

At first, the consistency of this essence may look viscous when you pump it out of the bottle but it actually has a very light consistency, almost like a watery, liquid gel. It gets absorbed into the skin pretty quickly and does not feel heavy nor sticky. To those who are sensitive to fragrance in skincare products, unfortunately this essence has a scent but it's subtle. To me, it smells citrusy and herbal, kind of similar to the scent of a product I've reviewed before (Dr. Althea Resveratrol cream). I personally prefer skincare products that have no fragrance in them but I don't mind the scent in this one as it is subtle and not unpleasant.

Overall, I highly recommend the Abib Heartleaf Essence Calming Pump! I have sensitive skin and it worked out really well for me. I would recommend this product to people who have sensitive skin but please do not forget to do a patch test first before using it. This essence is effective in soothing skin irritation and redness. I usually use a soothing mask whenever my skin feels irritated but this essence is a great alternative for a soothing mask. The size of the bottle is perfect for traveling (it even has a cover to prevent pumping out the product accidentally) and the product itself is convenient to apply. This is the first time I've tried a product by Abib and I'm honestly pretty impressed. I'll definitely consider this brand next time I shop for skincare products!
